ANKARA (AA) – A member of Turkey’s Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), Faruk Aysan, resigned on Wednesday.
Aysan said he was stepping down to return to academia.
“I have spoken with Deputy PM Mehmet Simsek and [Central Bank] Governor Murat Cetinkaya and resigned voluntarily.
“I will continue my academic career in Istanbul Sehir University,” Aysan said, stressing the decision was made after conferring with officials.
Aysan had been a MPC member since November 2011.
