IZMIR, Türkiye (AA) - The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 44 irregular migrants late Wednesday off the coast of Seferihisar and Dikili districts in the Aegean province of Izmir, while 23 others were apprehended.
A team was dispatched to the area upon receiving information about a group of irregular migrants off the coast of Seferihisar, according to the Turkish Coast Guard Command.
The teams rescued 25 irregular migrants, including 13 children, from a rubber boat pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek elements.
In Dikili, Coast Guard teams were dispatched to assist a drifting rubber boat due to engine failure, rescuing 19 irregular migrants, including three children.
In the same area, Coast Guard Mobile Radar detected another group of irregular migrants aboard a rubber boat.
Teams directed to the location intercepted the boat and apprehended 23 irregular migrants, including seven children.
After processing, the migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management.
