ANKARA (AA) - Galatasaray on Monday signed Turkish defender Kaan Ayhan on loan from Italian club Sassuolo.
On Twitter, the Istanbul club said it had agreed with Sassuolo on the loan.
Under the agreement, the 28-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2022-23 season at Galatasaray, and the Turkish Super Lig club has the buying option as well.
Galatasaray will pay a loan fee of €400,000 ($434,475) to the Italian club.
Galatasaray can also buy his contract for €2.8 million ($3 million). The player was said to earn 9.5 million Turkish liras or at least $505,200 this season.
Ayhan has scored five goals in 51 international caps for Türkiye since 2016.
Born in Germany, Ayhan previously played for German clubs Schalke, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Fortuna Dusseldorf before his move to Sassuolo in 2020.
He scored two goals in 55 matches for Sassuolo.
