TOKYO (AA) – Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Recep Akdag on Tuesday visited the Tokyo Rinkai Disaster Prevention Park as part of his visit to Japan.
Turkey’s ambassador to Tokyo Hasan Murat Mercan and Mehmet Gulluoglu, the head of Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) are accompanying Akdag.
“Turkey and Japan have a lot to learn from each other in terms of disaster prevention,” Akdag said.
He also said that children in Japan are trained to be prepared for earthquakes, which makes them learn how to deal with them.
Akdag also met with Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Keiichi Ishii.
On Wednesday, Akdag is expected to meet Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and Interior Minister Seiko Noda.
