ANKARA (AA) – The Turkish economy’s total turnover surged 90.9% on an annual basis in January, the country’s statistical authority reported on Friday.
This was driven by significant growth in the industry, construction, trade and services sectors, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The largest annual increase in turnover – 116.9% – was seen in the services sector, followed by industry with a hike of 106.1%.
Turnover in the trade and construction sectors increased by 76.1% and 62.3%, respectively, in January.
On a monthly basis, the seasonally and calendar-adjusted total turnover index was up by 3.6% in January.
“Industry increased by 2.2%, construction increased by 11.3%, trade increased by 1.5% and services increased by 11.9% on monthly basis in January 2022,” read a TurkStat statement.
