ATHENS (AA) - The Turkish embassy in the Greek capital Athens hosted a panel Thursday on the historical dimension of Turkish-Greek relations.

Turkish Ambassador to Greece Cagatay Erciyes said relations between the two countries were not always tense.

“Only we, Türkiye and Greece, can resolve our differences,” he said.

The panel was moderated by Professor Mustafa Aydin of Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Professor Enis Tulca of Galatasaray University in Istanbul and Professor Evantis Hatzivassiliou of the University of Athens. They highlighted the excellent relations initiated in 1930 by the leaders of Türkiye and Greece -- Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and Eleftherios Venizelos, respectively, which lasted until 1952.

The panel was attended by a distinguished audience which included Greek, Turkish and foreign diplomats, journalists and academics.
