ANKARA (AA) – The body of Turkish citizen Hasan Saklanan, who was shot dead by the Israeli police last month in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem, was received by the Turkish Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Turkish officials received Saklanan’s body following the completion of the judicial investigation, according to information obtained from diplomatic sources on Wednesday.

The body will be brought to Türkiye via Jordan and is expected to arrive by air early on Thursday, the sources said on condition of anonymity.

On April 30, Israeli police killed Saklanan after claiming he attacked a police officer with a knife in the Old City.
