LONDON (AA) - A film by famous Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan was brought to the big screen in London for the first time in the city’s annual film festival.
“The Wild Pear Tree” (Ahlat Agaci) was shown at the British Film Institute’s (BFI) 62nd London Film Festival on Oct. 16-17, garnering much applause by the audience.
Ceylan tells the story of a young author and literary enthusiast facing the difficulties of publishing his first book while struggling with a family debt.
The film had premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival where it was nominated for the 91st Academy Award.
