ISTANBUL (AA) - Plastic traffic barriers produced by the Turkish company Karmod have been placed in Uludag, Türkiye’s famous ski resort, to support traffic management efforts in the region, the company announced on Friday.
Designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, the barriers aim to provide an efficient solution to regulating traffic flow in both urban centers and tourism areas, Karmod Plastic Group General Manager Talay Ozturk said in a statement.
“Our traffic barriers, produced using high-density polyethylene, are engineered to meet highway standards and undergo specialized thermal processing to enhance durability. They remain unaffected by extreme temperatures, ensuring long-term, reliable performance,” he added.
He emphasized the practical advantages of polyethylene-based barriers, highlighting their lightweight yet robust structure, which enables flexible deployment in response to evolving traffic conditions.
Additionally, the barriers are equipped with sealed water compartments that can be filled for added stability in fixed placements, eliminating the need for heavy lifting equipment.
“These barriers are particularly effective in managing traffic fluctuations in city centers, tourist destinations, and parking facilities. Their stackable design enhances logistical efficiency, allowing a single truck to transport enough units to delineate 700 meters of roadway,” Ozturk added.
For the Uludag hotel district, Karmod has supplied 210 barriers, each measuring 1 or 1.5 meters in length, and manufactured in red and white in accordance with highway safety standards, the company said.
