ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey’s prefabricated housing firm Karmod has established a refugee camp for the United Nations in Nigeria, the company said in a press release on Monday.
According to the statement, a UN office is also located inside the refugee camp in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno province in northeastern Nigeria.
Karmod's West Africa Coordinator Fehim Ozkanca said that the housings established for the UN Humanitarian Aid Coordination Office will serve refugees who are forced to leave their homes due to conflicts and terrorism.
Ozkanca said that Karmod's new generation container model has been delivered in a ready-to-use mode, making it easier for the UN to provide a safe and secure sheltering environment to the refugees.
“The buildings are 3x9 and the 3x7 meter unit in sizes, they were fully processed in Turkey and shipped by the sea to Lagos and delivered to the local area through land transportations,” he added.
According to Ozkanca, the project covers a total of 4,500 square meters and the houses are two and three floored buildings. The blocks include refugee housing, social areas, bathrooms, toilet facilities and administration office.
''Karmod container products have become one of the most preferred building models in Africa due to its easy air conditioning features such as sandwich panel walls and roof panels.
It is also easy to install and it serves for a long time."
“Karmod products are used for residential housings, mine and energy projects, workers camps and dormitories, education and management buildings. We generally offer time saving and safe living spaces where they are demanded,” Ozkanca concluded.
