Turkish first lady advocates unity at African Cancer Combat summit

'I wish for our brotherhood to endure, and I hope for peace, prosperity, and tranquility to prevail in these lands,' says Emine Erdogan

ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish first lady Emine Erdogan delivered a message of unity and hope Friday during the Cancer Combat Summit in African countries.

"On the occasion of the Cancer Combat Summit in African countries, as a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, we are united for the future of the continent and the world," she wrote on X.

"It was a great pleasure to meet the cheerful and sincere people of Nigeria, embracing their warmth and hospitality," she wrote. "I wish for our brotherhood to endure, and I hope for peace, prosperity, and tranquility to prevail in these lands.”

On Thursday, Erdogan attended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member African Countries' Awareness Raising and Support Program against Cancer as the guest of honor in Abuja, Nigeria.

She also met her Sierra Leone counterpart, Fatima Maada Bion, in the Nigerian capital.
