ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke with High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, on the phone late Friday on Syria.
According to diplomatic sources, the two top diplomats discussed ceasefire and humanitarian aid efforts for Syria and possible steps towards improving Turkey-EU ties.
Turkish aid campaigns have been supporting civilians fleeing the war-battered city of Aleppo for over a week, with hundreds of trucks ferrying humanitarian supplies to the Syrian border.
Separately, Cavusoglu spoke with Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on the phone, discussing latest developments in Syria and regional issues, the sources said.
Turkish Foreign Minister also spoke with Venezuela's Foreign Minister Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez on the phone, when Gomez thanked Cavusoglu for Turkish Airlines starting flights to Venezuela.
Turkish Airlines launched flights to Cuba and Venezuela starting from Dec. 20.
The new routes enable passengers to make round trips to Havana and Caracas with fares starting from $699.
