Turkish security forces "neutralized" four terrorists attempting to cross the border with two paramotors from Iraq into the southeastern Türkiye, Turkish interior minister said on Sunday.
The incident occurred near the southeastern Sirnak province at Dugun Mountain, where two air vehicles were detected crossing the border from Iraq into Türkiye, Ali Yerlikaya said, adding the terrorists were reportedly preparing for an attack.
In a statement on X, Ali Yerlikaya praised the relentless efforts of the nation’s security personnel, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring national safety.
Coordinated by the Sirnak Provincial Gendarmerie Command, the operation involved several specialized teams and unmanned aerial vehicles. It has resulted in the neutralization of four terrorists and the seizure of two paramotors, he said.
Weapons and equipment recovered included rifles, pistols, and explosive materials, he added.
