ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with members of Hamas' Political Bureau on Friday and discussed the latest developments in negotiations for a cease-fire agreement in Gaza that would allow for hostage and prisoner exchanges.
Fidan met with Hamas Shura Council Chairman Mohammed Ismail Darwish and its Political Bureau members and discussed the latest developments in the cease-fire negotiations and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to mobilizing international support to address the humanitarian "catastrophe" in Gaza, particularly in the northern region.
Both sides also discussed the inter-Palestinian reconciliation process, which is a series of attempts to resolve differences between Fatah and Hamas, with Fidan appreciating a recent meeting hosted in Cairo, Egypt.
During the meeting, Fidan conveyed his condolences to Hamas officials regarding the Israeli killing of Yahya Sinwar.
