ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg met on Tuesday ahead of a NATO summit in Brussels, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on X.
NATO foreign ministers are gathering at NATO headquarters in the Belgian capital Tuesday to discuss the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as growing strategic competition.
Sweden’s NATO aspirations could also be discussed, as Türkiye and Hungary are the last two alliance members that need to give Stockholm the green light before it can join.
Turkish officials have repeatedly said that Sweden needs to do more to address its security concerns, including the tolerance for and ties to terrorist groups, before it will agree to the country’s NATO accession.
