Turkish intelligence ‘neutralizes’ senior PKK terrorist in northern Iraq

Targeted terrorist was supplying weapons, ammunition to PKK, say security sources

ANKARA (AA) - The Turkish intelligence service on Friday “neutralized” a senior PKK terrorist across the border, in the Sinjar province of northern Iraq, security sources said.

Identified as Yilmaz Bayram, also known by his codename Agit Gever, the terrorist was the group's top logistics man providing weapons and ammunition to terrorists, said the sources, who requested anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has been monitoring high-ranking members of the PKK and recently conducted an operation in northern Iraq.

Turkish authorities use the term "neutralize" to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists have hideouts in northern Iraq, across the Turkish border, which they use to plot attacks on Türkiye.

In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye, the PKK—listed as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of more than 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.
