Turkish president arrives in Russian city Kazan to attend BRICS summit

Recep Tayyip Erdogan is accompanied by his wife Emine Erdogan and senior officials including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan

KAZAN, Russia (AA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday arrived in Russian city of Kazan to attend the 16th BRICS summit.

Erdogan is accompanied by his wife Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and other senior officials.

He was welcomed by local high-level officials and Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgic.

The three-day summit continues till Thursday. The bloc includes longtime members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with recent additions Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

Erdogan earlier said Türkiye “sincerely” wants to improve its cooperation with the BRICS group.
