NEW DELHI (AA) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday met with World Bank President Ajay Banga on the sidelines of the G-20 summit in India’s capital New Delhi.

Congratulating Banga on his new position, Erdogan expressed his satisfaction with Türkiye’s deep-rooted relations with the World Bank and the bank’s support after “the disaster of the century,” Türkiye's Communications Directorate said in a statement, referring to the February earthquakes in the country’s east and southeast.

During the meeting, Erdogan said that he welcomed the decision of the World Bank Group to increase the $17-billion three-year Türkiye Fund to $35 billion with an addition of $18 billion.

Erdogan also voiced his belief that cooperation with the World Bank will deepen in the next period.

He said all investments would transform into long-term investments for employment and production, particularly the restoration of the earthquake zone, according to the statement.
