ERBIL, Iraq (AA) - The Turkish Red Crescent on Thursday provided food aid to 250 displaced families in Iraq, as part of its Ramadan assistance program.

At the Harsham Camp in Erbil, families received food supplies to help alleviate their hardships during the Muslim holy month.

Speaking to Anadolu, Murat Tutanc, head of the Bursa branch of the Turkish Red Crescent, highlighted the organization's global efforts during Ramadan.

“Turkish Red Crescent operates in many parts of the world during the month of Ramadan. One hand is in Palestine, one hand is in Africa, and one hand is in Erbil.”

Besides food aid in the camp, the humanitarian organization also provided clothing to those in need, along with a daily distribution of 2,500 loaves of bread, Tutanc added.

Earlier, Eray Akkaya, acting president of the Turkish Red Crescent Iraq delegation, had affirmed that food aid would continue for 5,000 families throughout Iraq during Ramadan.
