ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark index was down 0.13 percent at the close of the daily session Monday.
The BIST 100 index fell 95.39 points to close at 75,543.57. Total trading volume was around 3 billion Turkish liras ($891.2 million).
The banking sector index fell by 0.86 while the holding sector rose 0.22 percent. The leasing and factoring sector showed the greatest increase -- 2.04 percent -- while the largest drop was seen in the insurance index, which fell 0.99 percent.
The most heavily traded stocks were in Garanti Bank, Halkbank, Akbank, Isbank and Turkish Airlines.
Shares of Alarko Gayrimenkul, the real estate investment firm, showed a 5.25 percent increase while shares in finance company GSD Holding dropped 1.94 percent.
The Borsa Istanbul Gold Exchange rose 0.25 percent and the lira increased slightly in value against the U.S. dollar to trade at 3.3640, compared to Friday’s closing rate of 3.3680.
