Turkish shares down at open

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100, Turkey’s benchmark index, opens at 76,682.82 on the daily session of Friday, Sept. 30

ANKARA (AA) - The BIST 100 index fell 0.51 percent at the opening of the daily session on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016.

The Borsa Istanbul lost 393.99 points to open at 76,682.82.

The banking sector index fell the most, by 0.78 percent, and the holding sector index declined by 0.35 percent. The mining sector index rose the most, with 0.48 percent, among all sector indexes.

On Thursday, the BIST 100 index trended negatively to close the day at 77,076.80, an 0.76 percent fall, due the U.S. dollar’s gains against emerging market currencies.

Analysts said markets will follow Turkey's balance of foreign trade figures on the last trading day of the week.

Analysts also stressed that concerns about the European banking sector had a negative impact on stock markets worldwide and led investors to act cautiously.

The Turkish lira slightly gained value against the U.S. dollar. The exchange rate was at 3 early Friday morning, lower than Thursday's close rate at over 3.
