ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark index lost 144.79 points to open at 74,845.44 points on Tuesday morning.
The BIST 100 index decreased by 0.19 percent, while the banking and holding sector indexes declined by 0.31 and 0.18 percent, respectively.
On the second trading day of the week, the insurance sector index rose the most, by 0.40 percent, in the opening session. The leasing and factoring sector index saw the largest drop with a 0.96 percent fall.
Analysts said investors would follow the U.S. Gross Domestic Product growth figure for the third quarter and Federal Reserve talks as well as Germany's inflation data.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.4310 by the time markets closed at 5.30 p.m. (1430 GMT) Monday, was relatively flat at 3.4170 at the open 9.30 a.m. (0630 GMT) Tuesday.
