Turkish stock exchange again climbs above 10,000 points

Benchmark BIST 100 index up 142 points at close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 10,029.73 points, up 1.44% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the day at 9,911.41 points, adding 141.98 points from Monday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,878.57, while its daily high was 10,108.15.

While 42 indices dropped during the day, 58 gained value.

The total transaction volume reached 101 billion Turkish liras ($2.99 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.5 trillion liras ($249.5 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.1270 as of 6.12 p.m. local time (1512GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 38.0650 and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.7020.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,646.10, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $74.30.
