ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed at 9,012.87 points on Wednesday, down 3.62% from the previous day's close.
The BIST 100 index began the day at 9,320.46 points but lost 338.35 points by the end of trading. Throughout the day, the index recorded a low of 9,012.87 points and a high of 9,339.22 points.
Of the indices, six experienced increases in value, while 93 declined by the close of trading.
The total transaction volume for the day reached 83 billion Turkish liras ($2.44 billion), with the overall market capitalization of the index at 7.8 trillion liras ($229 billion).
As of 6:40 p.m. (1640 GMT), the USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.2150, the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.7895, and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.3895.
Additionally, the price of one ounce of gold was reported at $2,647.27, while Brent oil was priced around $74.05 per barrel.
