Turkish stock exchange down at open

Benchmark index drops over 65 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 7,446.35 points, down 0.89%, or 66.94 points, from last week’s close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Friday at 7,513.29 points, down 3.23%, with a daily trading volume of 145.9 billion Turkish liras ($5.39 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.1670 as of 10.10 a.m. local time (0710GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.5580, and a British pound traded for 34.5960 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $85.50 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,918.15.
