ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Tuesday at 9,351.22 points, down 3.15% from the previous close.
After the BIST 100 index started the day at 9,673.56 points, it fell 314.56 points from Monday's close.
The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,238.71, while its daily high was 9,680.84.
While 94 indices dropped during the day, five gained value.
The total transaction volume reached 95 billion Turkish liras ($2.78 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.1 trillion liras ($237.5 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 34.2180 as of 6.45 p.m. local time (1545GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 37.8620 and the GBP/TRY traded at 45.4360.
The price of an ounce of gold was $2,661.50, while the price of a barrel of Brent oil was around $74.40.
