Turkish stock exchange down at weekly open

Benchmark index loses 36.34 points at opening session

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 7,957.51 points, down by 0.45%, or 36.34 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Friday at 7,993.85 points, surging 2.31%, with a daily trading volume of 94 billion liras ($3.22 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 29.0430 as of 09.52 a.m. local time (0652GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 31.7284, while a British pound traded for 36.8507 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $77.38 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,037.50.
