Turkish stock exchange hits all-time high at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index gains 60 points at midweek's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Wednesday at 8,929.16 points, an all-time high closing level again, up 0.68% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,912.11 points, gained 60.02 points from Tuesday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 8,867.15, while its daily high was 8,934.84 – the highest level in its history.

Some 70 indices increased in value, while 30 declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 64 billion Turkish liras ($2.08 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.65 trillion liras ($246.3 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 30.5890 as of 18.25 p.m. (1525GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.9830 and the GBP/TRY traded at 38.6510.

One ounce of gold was at $2,054.60, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $78.90.
