Turkish stock exchange hits all-time high at Thursday close

BIST 100 index rises over 1% from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index ended Thursday with gains, hitting another all-time high of 3,437.41 points at close.

After starting the day at 3,441.88 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 34.6 points, or 1.02%, from Wednesday's close of 3,402.81 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 2.8 trillion Turkish liras ($151.2 billion) by close, with a daily trading volume of 113.3 billion Turkish liras ($6.1 billion).

One ounce of gold traded at $1,731.20 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil rose 0.95% to $88.84 per barrel as of 18.29 p.m. local time (1529GMT) due to escalating tensions between the EU and Russia, as the bloc and the Group of Seven countries plan a price cap on Russian oil.
