Turkish stock exchange hits all-time high at weekly close

Benchmark BIST 100 index earns 19.5 points at Friday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) – The Turkish benchmark stock index closed the week at 8,665.68 points, an all-time high closing level, up 0.23% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index, which started the day at 8,711.84 points, gained 19.56 points from Thursday's close.

The lowest value of the index of the day was 8,622.19, while its daily high was 8,762.89 – the highest level in its history.

Some 44 indices increased in value, while 54 declined as of the end of the day.

The total transaction volume reached 117 billion Turkish liras ($3.84 billion), while the overall value of the index was 7.37 trillion liras ($243.2 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was at 30.4610 as of 19.00 hours (1600GMT), while the EUR/TRY rate was at 32.9340 and the GBP/TRY traded at 38.4485.

One ounce of gold was at $2,050.45, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $77.40.
