ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Friday at a historically high level of 9,618.83 points, up 5.37% from the previous close.
The BIST 100 index had started the day at 9,275.88 points, earning 489.81 points from Thursday's close.
The lowest value of the index for the day was 9,249.78, while its daily high was 9,618.83.
Some 99 indices increased in value by the end of the day, while one declined.
The total transaction volume reached 124 billion Turkish liras ($3.86 billion), while the overall value of the index was 8.24 trillion liras ($258.7 billion).
The USD/TRY exchange rate was 31.9650 as of 18.50 p.m. (1550GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 34.6520, while the GBP/TRY traded at 40.3730.
The price of one ounce of gold was $2,326.40, while the barrel price of Brent oil was around $91.80.
