Turkish stock exchange in red side at close

Benchmark BIST 100 index drops around 158 points at Monday's close

ISTANBUL (AA) - The Turkish benchmark stock index closed Monday at 10,733.75 points, down 1.45% from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index started the week at 10,827.98 points, losing 157.67 points from Friday's close.

The lowest value of the index for the day was 10,728.7, while its daily high was 10,873.33.

Some 24 indices rose in value by the end of the day, while 76 declined.

The total transaction volume reached 87 billion Turkish liras ($2.65 billion), while the overall value of the index was 9.11 trillion liras ($276.45 billion).

The USD/TRY exchange rate was 33.0330 as of 6.30 p.m. local time (1530GMT), the EUR/TRY rate stood at 35.7385, and the GBP/TRY traded at 42.4424.

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,374.27, while a barrel price of Brent oil was around $78.90.
