Turkish stock exchange inches up to new record at close

Benchmark index rises 8.21 points to hit fresh closing high

ANKARA (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index closed at a fresh record of 9,250.36 points on Friday, up 0.09% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 rose 8.21 points from Thursday's close of 9,242.15.

On a weekly basis, the benchmark index gained 2.26% as of Friday's close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 7.7 trillion liras ($251.3 billion) at market close, with a daily trading volume of 120 billion liras ($3.92 billion).

The price of an ounce of gold was $2,020.35, while Brent crude oil sold for around $82.96 per barrel as of 6.48 p.m. local time (1548GMT).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 30.8384, while the euro/lira exchange rate registered 33.2231 and the British pound traded at 38.8017 liras.
