Turkish stock exchange looking up at week's opening

Benchmark index hikes 116.84 points at Thursday opening after break from Muslim Eid al-Adha holiday

ANKARA (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 10,588.16 points, rising by 1.12%, or 116.84 points, from the previous close after a break from the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.76% to close at 10,471.32 points.

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 32.4730 as of 10.01 a.m. local time (0701GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 35.0024, and a British pound traded for 41.3360 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $85.24 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,357.55.
