Turkish stock exchange opens higher on Friday

BIST 100 index gains 21.66 points

ANKARA (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened at 5,444.03 points on Friday, up 0.40%, or 21.66 points, from the previous close.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.71% to close at 5,422.37 points, with a daily trading volume of 109 billion Turkish liras ($5.8 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 18.7940 as of 9.55 a.m. local time (0655GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 20.3415, and a British pound traded for 23.2431 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $86.41 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was at $1,928.45.
