Turkish stock exchange starts week looking up

Benchmark index earns over 120 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 7,837.20 points, up 1.56%, or 120.52 points, from last week’s close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Friday at 7,716.67 points, soaring 3%, with a daily trading volume of 92.6 billion liras ($3.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 26.5640 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.7410, and a British pound traded for 33.4510 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.20 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,942.65.
