Turkish stock exchange starts week looking up

Benchmark index earns over 48 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Monday at 8,383.16 points, up 0.58%, or 48.22 points, from last week’s close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Friday at 8,334.94 points, up 1.41%, with a daily trading volume of 153.8 billion Turkish liras ($5.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.4675 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.1110, and a British pound traded for 33.5540 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $92.40 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,858.15.
