Turkish stock exchange up at Friday open

Benchmark index gains some 34.59 points at opening session

Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8,035.05 points, up 0.43%, or 34.59 points, from the previous close.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed at 8,000.46 points, up 3.64%, with a daily trading volume of 139.8 billion liras ($5.15 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.1515 as of 10.02 a.m. local time (0702GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 28.9385, while a British pound traded for 33.3357 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $93.68 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,944.85.
