Turkish stock exchange up at Friday open

Benchmark index gains some 23 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Friday at 8,242.08 points, up by 0.28%, or 23.35 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended Thursday at 8,218.74 points, up slightly by 0.06%, with a daily trading volume of 145.3 billion Turkish liras ($5.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.4620 as of 10.45 a.m. local time (0745GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.1220, while a British pound traded for 33.6230 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $93.10 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,889.85.
