Turkish stock exchange up at Friday opening

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gains 4.2 points from previous close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkiye's benchmark stock index Borsa Istanbul opened at 2,046.22 points on Friday, rising 4.21 points, or 0.21%, from the previous close.

The BIST 100 index was flat at 2,042.01 points at Thursday's close, with a daily trading volume of 38.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate increased to 14.9280 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 14.9180 at Thursday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate dropped to 16.4320 from 16.4610, while a British pound traded for 19.5481 Turkish liras, down from 19.6590 at the last close.

Brent crude oil sold for around $110.72 per barrel as of 09.54 a.m. local time (0654GMT).
