Benchmark index gains 26.5 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) — Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Tuesday at 7,495.65 points, up 0.34%, or 26.56 points, from last week's close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Monday at a historical high of 7,470.10 points, up 0.94%, with a daily trading volume of 136.4 billion liras ($5.05 billion)

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.0220 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT), while the euro/lira rate stood at 29.7360 and a British pound traded for 34.4760 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $84.80 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,968.10.
