Turkish stock exchange up at open

Benchmark index gains 46 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) - Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 7,648.30 points, up by 0.61%, or 46.05 points, from the midweek close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day Wednesday at 7,602.24 points, down 2.18%, with a daily trading volume of 174 billion Turkish liras ($6.39 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 27.2170 as of 10.25 a.m. local time (0725GMT), and the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 29.5570, while a British pound traded for 34.5580 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $82.90 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $1,950.10.
