Turkish stock exchange up at Thursday open

Benchmark index earns 17.7 points at opening session

ISTANBUL (AA) – Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Thursday at 7,278.13 points, up 0.24%, or 17.69 points, from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Wednesday at 7,260.44 points, down 0.53%, with a daily trading volume of 66 billion Turkish liras ($2.26 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 29.4315 as of 10.10 a.m. local time (0710GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 32.8140, and a British pound traded for 37.6945 Turkish liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $79.70 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,096.45.
