Turkish stock exchange up at Tuesday open

Benchmark index gains 50.96 points at opening session

Türkiye's benchmark stock index opened Tuesday at 9,807.65 points, up 0.52%, or 50.69 points, from the previous close.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 1.43% to a record closing high of 9,756.69 points.

The stock exchange will trade for half a day on Tuesday and be closed till Sunday due to the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 32.2223 as of 10.01 a.m. local time (0701GMT), the euro/lira exchange rate stood at 34.9802, and a British pound traded for 40.7760 liras.

Brent crude oil was selling for around $90.59 per barrel, while the price of an ounce of gold was $2,363.65.
