ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 2,472.50 points on Friday, down 3.30% from the previous close.
Ending its winning streak after posting six consecutive days of gains, the index posted a decrease of 0.88% this week.
Starting the day at 2,550.24 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 84.31 points from Thursday's all-time high close of 2,556.81 points.
During Friday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 2,465.51 and 2,561.00 points, with seven stocks on the index rising and 93 down from the previous close.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 2 trillion Turkish liras ($136.8 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 52.7 billion Turkish liras ($3.6 billion).
The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and defense electronics firm Aselsan.
Shares of low-cost carrier Pegasus Airlines performed the best, up 4.81%, while stocks of leasing company Is Finansal Kiralama dropped the most, 6.39%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,940.30 by market close, up from $1,859.70 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was $106.22 per barrel as of 6.00 p.m. local time (1500GMT).
