Turkish stocks down at Thursday's open

BIST 100 index loses over 2 points at opening session compared to previous close

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,622.02 points on Thursday, falling 0.13% or 2.07 points from the previous close.

At midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index hit another all-time high of 1,624.09 points with a rise of 0.52% and a daily trading volume of over 29 billion Turkish liras ($2.96 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate hit 9.9270 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 9.8210 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was at 11.4180, rising from 11.3550, while one British pound was traded for 13.3390 Turkish liras, slightly up from 13.3240.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $82.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
