ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started Tuesday with a 21.5-point increase to open at 98,213.47 points.
The banking sector index was flat while the holding sector declined 0.10 percent.
Among all sectors, the tourism index was the best performer with a 0.51 percent rise, while the leasing and factoring index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.31 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.5270 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared with 3.5220 at Monday’s close.
The BIST 100 was down 675.93 points or 0.68 percent to reach 98,191.97 points at the close of trade on Monday, with a total trading volume of 5.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.56 billion).
