ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the midweek trading up 0.05% or 47.05 points to open at 88,069.99 points Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 2.02% to close at 88,022.94 points with a daily trading volume of 6.56 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.0600 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared to 5.9950 at Tuesday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.7950, versus 6.7270, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.8390 Turkish liras, compared to the previous close at 7.7650.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $70.89 as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) on Wednesday.
