ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week down 0.05% or 47.57 points to open at 93,761.52 points on Monday.
On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped 3.83% to close the week at 93,809.09 points with a daily trading volume of 5.46 billion Turkish liras ($934 million).
Last week, the benchmark index posted a 3.55% hike, while it was open only one and a half day due to the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.8400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from 5.8000 at Friday's close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6,6080, versus 6.5690, and one British pound traded for 7.4400 Turkish liras, compared to 7.4100.
One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $63.62 as of 9.45 a.m. local time (0645GMT) on Monday.
