ANKARA (AA) - Turkey’s benchmark BIST 100 index rose by 0.36 percent at the close of Tuesday’s trading.
It climbed 268.42 points over the day to close at 75,811.99. The total trading volume was 3 billion Turkish liras ($890 million).
The banking and holding sector indices gained 0.79 and 0.38 percent, respectively, while the tourism sector index jumped the most -- 2.08 percent -- while the sports sector registered the largest fall at 0.90 percent.
The most heavily-traded stocks were in Garanti Bank, Halkbank, Akbank, Is Bank and Turkish Airlines. Shares in the tourism company, Net Turizm, rose the most -- a 5.51 percent increase in value -- while the travel company, Metro Holding, suffered a 1.89 percent fall, the largest of the day.
The Borsa Istanbul Gold Exchange index was stable during the day and gold traded at 131,700 Turkish liras ($39,070) per kilogram.
The lira dropped against the U.S. dollar to trade at 3.3640 compared to Monday's closing rate of 3.3710.
The Turkish Statistical Institute also revealed its consumer confidence index figures, which went down by 6.9 percent month-on-month in November.
